Traditional Japanese combat
Ju-Jitsu is a deadly art that was once the secondary fighting
system used by Samurai warriors.
Ju-Jitsu is a "soft-form"
martial art. It is directly translauted as the art of gentleness
or adaptability. Its power is derived by understanding body mechanics
and re-directing an attackers own energy against him.
Because Ju-Jitsu techniques
do not require a great deal of strength to perform, it is an ideal
self defense form for smaller individuals. Ju-Jitsu students
study techniques to defend against attackers using momentum, principles
of balance, wrist and joint locks, throws and pressure point techniques.

In addition, students are introduced
to numerous weapons including:
|
Sword

Cane
|
Hanbo

Staff

Realistic Training

Red Dragon trains gun defenses
with Air Soft pistols rather than rubber training guns. This ensures
that the student learns proper muzzle orientation and perfects
their tai sabaki or body positioning. In the sequence above Uke
is threatening with a forward pistol assault. Tori side steps
the muzzle pushing the muzzle to the ground with his left hand
while simultaneously grabbing Uke's wrist with his right hand.

Tori continues to push the muzzle
toward the ground and back into Uke striking him in the floating
ribs with the barrel of the weapon. This action breaks the weapon
free from Uke's grip by attacking the weakest point in the grip.
As this is done, Tori pulls Uke off balance by pulling his right
arm straight forward. Tori then steps through with his right foot
delivering a lunge punch to either the solar plexus or right rib
cage.
